4 Ways To Protect Your Melanin This Summer

Your melanin is beautiful, and we need to keep it poppin in this blazing heat! Here are 4 ways to protect your melanin this summer.

1. Swap Baby Oil for Olive Oil

We all love to glisten in the sun, but baby oil provides minimal protection for your skin on those hot summer days. If you want your melanin to shine, olive oil has tons of Vitamin E to keep your skin moisturized all day long. Be sure to use "Extra Virgin" olive oil, and less is more.... we don't want any sunburns.

2. Stay Hydrated

Yes you need to drink water, but you also need to incorporate hydrating beauty products into your routine. Intense sweating can reduce the moisture in your skin, so opt for a few hydrating masks and creams to prevent dehydration.

3. Avoid Chemical Peels

The sun is extra harsh during the summer, and you can cause irreparable damage to your skin if you try any intense treatments. Save chemical peels, laser treatments, and lightning techniques for the winter.

4. Watch the Alcohol

I know it's party time - especially after quarantine... but don't knock back too much henny if you want an everlasting glow. Alcohol can be very dehydrating so just prepare yourself with a bit of extra water or just sip slower.
